    Default Hi from Indiana....!

Hello Everyone! I look forward to hanging out with you guys.

I picked my Vega up as a roller in '09. In my two car garage, it has taken me lots of hours, blood, sweat, & tears to get it in the shape it is today. The whole point of this project was to see if I could build a car that is dependable enough to drive anywhere, be consistant enough to win at the dragstrip, and at the same time look great, & be 100% NHRA/IHRA legal. I drive it to the track every weekend and it is currently doing very well with an 11-3 round record this year. It turns heads eveywhere I go and my son (6) loves it when I pick him up from school in it (the teachers, not so much....). It retains it's original, complete, interior and also has a great sound system. For power, it has an aluminum headed Vortec 350, TH400, Ford 9", and is a solid 12 second street car.

    Vortec 5700 Short Block
    Aluminum Heads
Hooker 2129 Super Comp Full Length Headers
    Holley 750
    TH400
    Aluminum Driveshaft
    Ford 9" w/3.90's
    Aluminum Radiator
16" 2300 cfm Electric Pusher Fan
    MSD 6AL
    Blaster 2 Coil
    Hollet Blue Fuel Pump
    MSD Billet Dristributer
    Timing Locked @ 38*
    B&M Pro Ratchet Shifter
    Hurst T-Handle w/ Button
    B&M Line-Loc
    AutoMeter Gauges
    1/8 - 8.03@85.77
    1/4 - 12.62@108.61
    100% Street Legal
    100% NHRA/IHRA Legal
Driven to the track and raced every weekend

Thanks for the write-up! Where do you normally race?

I can imagine cruising through the school zone @ 15mph and all the little kids, parents and teachers with their jaws on the ground... :D

    Thumbs up

    Nice!
Get the youngs ones involved in cars early!
I like the color combination! Gotta have flames! Especially traditional flames!
I've painted flames on MANY things over the last 5-6 years, lawn tractor, bowling pins, mail boxes, garage wall, etc...getting ready to put flames on my antique frig.....
Good lookin' ride, I love the fact that you drive it to the track!
    Thanks for posting!

    Thanks for the kinds words!
I am a regalar at Bunker Hill Dragstrip. I run the Vega in Sportsman in the NHRA Summit Points Series (2nd year) and race my '69 Camaro in Super Pro for points as well (first year). I have spent the last two winters painting both cars and getting them race ready.

My oldest son, who is 6, has been a regular at the track since he was 2. He can hardly wait until he's 8 so he can start in jr. dragsters. During the week he holds complete races with his HotWheels. I mean complete, including 3 time shots, Dial For Dollars, buy backs, and bye runs, all the way til the finals.

Your son know what he wants! Thats great!
My grand daughter, 7 years old, has been working in the garage with me for past 3 years, working on the hotrod, and I do some backyard mechanics on the weekends, she loves to be out there with me turning wrenches. Her and I are just finishing a re-build on her go-kart. She keeps asking me when she can have my hotrod for her own!!!! She loves this car!

I guess I should post some pics of my Super Pro car too.

Hey DAWG, this one might be more up your alley...

This is my '69 Camaro S/P bracket car. It has a sbc and it runs consistant 6.50's in the 1/8th & 10.30's in the 1/4. I gave it the Baldwin Motion Phase III paint job last winter. The paint scheme/decals pay tribute to quite a few very popular first gen. racing Camaro's. All of the RS treatment is airbrushed on. Including the grille, headlights, side marker lights, & side vents. The entire car is finished in BC/CC. The rear fender flares are hand fabricated and all metal.

    406 sbc
    Dart Little M block
    Cola Crank
    Eagle H Beam Rods
    SRP Sprint Car Pisons 14.8:1
    Brodix Track One Heads
    Comp Cams 678/698 Roller Cam
1.6 Harland Sharp Roller Rockers w/ Girdles
    Brodix High Rise Intake
    Holley 830 "Cheater" Carb
Hitman 50-400 Plate System (Not Used Yet)
    Holley Black Fuel Pump
    4.88 Spool
Dynoed 605hp at the crank, 490 at the wheels
