Default Indianola, Texas Legends of America

I wonder if many of you know about this town of early Texas History. It had been an important port on the Texas coast where Germans immigrated into Texas mostly from the 1830s and 40s. Many stayed here but most of them traveled to the Texas hill country from here to settle and continue their lives. The Army even sent Camels through this port to be sent out west in New Mexico and Arizona to see if they would handle the harsh areas. No they did not work out so this bringing in Camels was halted later. Most anything found on this town is valuable now since a couple Hurricanes blasted it off the landscape. I saw this item on ebay a photo of CSA vets in 1867 posing for the German photographer "Rehner". It was setting there at $25.00 so I thought yes I will come in late to take it but when I went back it had sold for $159.50 Here is the listing and the photo with the write up. The photo even had the Confederate's names. Made it worth more money! Even though I did not get that picture I saved the copy with the oval stamp in the back of Rehner Indianola, Tx 1867 shortly after the Civil War. I do believe that item went too cheap.

That is great history, I wasn't aware of those happenings. Thanks for sharing.
