I switched back to manifold vacuum and it seems to run real well. I'll put the timing light on it tomorrow to check it out.

I used the timing light and this what I found and did. The initial timing was at 14 and the engine was running a little rough so I added 2 degrees of timing. Thank ran the total timing at 2500 rpms. When I checked the timing at 2500rpms it was 33 degrees. When I hooked up the vacuum hose to the distributor it ran 33.5 degrees at idle and 54 degrees at 2500 rpm. To me this is running very well.

After the timing are these large numbers appropriate?

Sounds like you are in the ballpark.

Have you got you new weights and springs on yet?

I'd be curious to see what happens when you do.

Yes, I'm not since the total timing is 35 degrees.
