Default Brake and Clutch Fluid Test

We all know brake and clutch fluids absorb moisture, and moisture in brake lines and clutch systems is something we can do without.

You can do a simple test on brake / clutch fluid with a voltmeter.

Set it to DC, ground one probe and drop the other probe in the reservoir.

You are looking for .3 volts. Anything above this indicates over 3% moisture in the system which translates to an estimated boiling point and less than the DOT standard

    Cool

You can also buy "Test Strips" that you dip into the fluid, let it sit for a bit and than read what color matches the "Good or Bad" scale on the bottle...

    A couple of Test Strips:

    100 Test Strips:

Or you can buy a Tester from NAPA for about $35 (not as good as strips)...

    Or one for $400

They have Test Strips for Antifreeze also:
