I have never owned a vehicle (and I've owned a lot), that had a bolt-in catalytic converter. "Some" have pipes that bolt to the exhaust manifold, and have bolts before the muffler, but those replacement "systems" can be very, very expensive, as you are paying for pipes & flanges that are not required/need to be replaced. Most all CC's are welded in, and will be cut out, then the new CC welded back in, in it's place. Much cheaper and much more realistic. Might also be worth noting, that most cars under a manufacturers warranty, can't have any work done to the CC (even R&R), without it being done "through" a dealership, or you will void said warranty. I went through this when we bought our Wrangler new, and had the CC keep setting off the check engine light. After three trips in, I made them replace the CC, since they said that I couldn't. I also just replaced one of the two CC's on my Chevy van. They wanted $200+ for just the CC & the pipe that bolts to the exhaust manifold. I instead, cut the old CC out, then replaced it (cut out & re-welded) with a $100 universal CC from the auto parts store.
If winning was easy, then the losers would be winners.
I wish I was the man my dog thinks I am.
