    Default The next chapter...

...in the Morgan Racing book begins today. We pulled it out, and gave it a good it's first "Morgan-ization cleaning".

My oldest son has been going to the strip with me as long as I've been going. He's been almost every weekend since he was 2. Now he's 8 (legal age to start racing Minor Jr.'s). I picked this one from a fellow racing buddy who's daughter had moved up to the next class. Bought it as "Turn Key" a year ago, and it's been in the shed out back until today. I know NOTHING about these little things other than they're loud as hell, and a lot of work to dial in from what I've been told/seen. This one has a new motor (although I've never heard it run since I don't have a starter box yet) and the slowest the p.o. could get it to run is 12.70's in the 1/8. I have to find a way to slow it down as the break for Minors is 12.90. The motor is basically a 5 horse B&S that runs on alcohol. That is about the extent of my knowledge, lol. Now that it's time, and I have it in the garage, I'm buying a case of beer, and calling a few buddies over that know these things inside and out. I'm going to point them towards the cooler and say "Drink up &Teach me!" After learning the ins & outs, it gets a satin black paint job (including wheels), and whatever decals he wants to raid from my sticker box. The goal is to get him down the strip a couple weekends this year, and if he likes it/wants to stick with it, we will go all out on paint & body over the winter and he will be starting his points racing career next season.
If winning was easy, then the losers would be winners.
I wish I was the man my dog thinks I am.
