    Default Hot Rod Project

Well I finally have a hot rod thats not a mower! Lol
Several months ago my lady freind was given a 90 model Chevy Short wide by her mother & brother.
I just figured it to be an old truck, but she came home with a pretty ragged out old hot rod pick up. Ok so until I buy her a car it's still "hers" and always will be. But it's "mine" to rod at will with. Planning on building her one heck of a girly Street Truck out of it.
When she got it home we gave it a once over and twice over and... Well let's say as long as it took me to make the list of what it needs we're going to be a bit on the project!

    Default Tranny's gotta go

First stage of this project was to just get it going, and we kind of stuck there for awhile. But now circumstance has forced the project forward. Circumstance being we lost 3rd gear! Had when I left the house, but musts fell out of my pocket about 10 miles into my 32 mile trip cause I ain't seen it since!
Been saving money as we knew a tranny was coming, but that's been tough with me being sick and her out of work.
So since I have been out of mainstream hot rods for so long, I'm in need of suggestions.
Planning on mainly street use with the occasional strip trip. Has a pretty hot small block in it now, With upgrades to come. Obviously a drop in built peice would be nice, but a dropped out wallet says I'm rebuilding the 700R4 myself.
What kits do you guys know about, I have looked at the monster in a box 400hp kit, but at $450 it's a bit more than I'd like to spend. Is there a good kit out there in the $300 range?

I was wrong. The Monster kit is a 500 HP kit. I think I'm going to get the B&M kit. It's about half the money and good for 400 HP, which is more than this small block will ever put out. B&M is a name I know I can trust as well. I have a buddy pricing the kit, he owns a shop and can get a discount so maybe I can save some bucks. Another buddy has worked for one of the best tranny guys around here and is going to help me with the rebuild. Could probably do it myself, but when an expert wants to help you take it! Lol

    Cool

    Congrats...

I was going to say to rebuild the tranny as it is already in there and it fits...

It can be a pain in the ars to try and fit something else...

You have a good tranny guy, use him...

    Good Luck...

Thanks guys, good to be getting back around. Unfortunately , being sick is something in just going to have to learn to deal with, and I'd greatly appreciate it if that's all that is said about that! Tired of being sick, and even more tired of talking about it.

Still trying to figure out how to post pics from phone... I know there is a tutorial some where's round here? Lol

It's a bit tricky still. The mobile app for easy phone/tablet browsing and posting pictures is about 2 months away. Will make it a whole lot easier for me to participate while out at shows for sure
