Default Cool Rides Crew - It's DOOOONE!

After 7 years the '49 Chevy is back on the road. Made the inaugural cruise last Sat and have since logged about 250 miles with the only isse being a thermostat gasket leak - quickly dispatched

Can't begin to express how satisfying that first ride was! There is a ton of info on the truck in my album - feel free to check it out!

Thanks everyone! Marcel this is my 1st ever paint job- up to this point I have rattle canned small parts, but never used a gun to paint a whole vehicle, and I did it in my my garage at home. I launched my HVLP a couple times and had a few, uh, uber-meltdowns along the way lol. I actually painted the cab twice, the front fenders 3 times and the hood 4 times - so to do this truck I sprayed about 4 paint jobs worth of paint :D My 'want' and my know-how clashed, but I am very happy with how it came out after about 65 hours wet sanding lol...

I hope to 'unveil' it at the Street Rod Nationals (springfield missouri) - assuming I have my door panels and headliner back by then :D

Go for it! I couldn't find anyone to do it for what I felt was a 'anywhere near reasonable price' so I went to work. Forums helped me tons and I just had to reconcile what I expected with what was reasonably achievable in my garage with 'regular-guy' tools. Be patient and walk away when you have to, lol. The 'artist' is always his own worst critic

Speedo drive gears will not have any effect on the speedometer head. Now on late models, that's an entirely different story.

great job I have always said almost anybody can spray paint ,it is in the water sanding and buffing that can make even the mediocre paint job look great and yours looks awesome great job to be proud of
