After reading the story, I find the comments go from one extreme to the other, from "good job FHP" to "hope the FHP doesn't need backup in Miami City".

    Very interesting.

I agree with "good job FHP" and don't find it to be extreme at all. LEO's are NOT above the law and it's nice see it when they are reminded of that fact. I mean really? 120+mph, three lane sweeps, lane change without signaling, and paying no mind to the flashing lights in the rear view? All because he didn't want to be late for work!! Joe Public would be in jail lickety-split if he did that.

ETA: I am by no means a LEO basher. Norm as a retired LEO, I would hope you would have done the same if you were in her shoes.

I think you may have interpreted my comment as the FHP being extreme, that's not what I had written. Please re-read my post, I had commented on the "comments" made by others after the article are from one end of the spectrum to the other, therefore being extreme to the point that there was no general consensus as right or wrong. You need to point out to me exactly where in my post I had sided with anything.

I hold back on my personal feelings on these types of posts for the exact same reason of you busting my chops on your perceived notion that I may or may not side with the FHP.

You need not remind me as a retired LEO of who I should side with. After 42 years on the streets and in management, I kinda got the idea.

    Thank you.

I spent some time doing a little work at the National Police Hall of Fame back when it was still in Miami FL and I know there is no love between Miami Dade Police and the FHP, If either one side got caught by the other doing something wrong they were given no breaks. My dad was a deputy sheriff in Michigan and they would usually let other officers off with a warning unless it was something pretty bad. I'd have to say 120+mph is getting reckless just trying to get to work on time.
