    I was shooting for 1:45



    I was a little worried getting back from 1 week vacation straight to the run and falling asleep last night @ 1am to wake up at 4am was maybe not the best idea... (Watched Bears game and Boxing match... evil DVR)


    • The first 8 miles I stayed on a 1:42 (ish) pace but started slowing down after that.
    • After 9th mile I started getting cramps in my right calf.
    • After 10th mile I started getting the dreaded cramp/pain on the right side of my ribs.
    • Walked for 2 or 3 minutes between miles 10~11.
    • The last mile was a fast mile a little faster than my 1:45 pace


    After I crossed the finish line as I was cooling down BOTH my calves started cramping pretty badly. I drank water @ 3 stations and had Gatorade at another which is more than enough for 13 miles. I'm assuming I was just dehydrated from the vacation hence the muscle cramps..,

    Now I have to get my act together because I'm also running the Chicago Marathon in less than 2 months!!!

    Congrats on your finish Marcel. I heard Gatorade is suppose to help prevent cramps, more so than just plain water. I read it somewhere, don't remember where though.
