Default Far from home...I Miss America (Military related/question)

I'm not military and have never been, but I think of our soldiers and what they must be going through, everyday. Do either one (or both) of these songs hit home with any members that are/were soldiers? Of all of the songs that I've heard over the years, in my unexperienced opinion, these two seem to really convey what a soldier overseas and in battle might feel like. It makes me somber and extremely appreciative everytime I hear either one of them. I damn near drop any/every thing that I'm doing and just listen and think.

I was just wanting to know if I was being duped by some musicians, or if the emotions I feel are shared by those serving/have served...

And a great big THANK YOU to everyone who has served or is serving.

thanks it does hit home for sure specially if you seen action.
whole lotta memories just flash on by during those tunes.
thankfully the memories fade but for some they still are fighting the battles each day even here at home!

There are alot of songs out there that take you back.
Different songs say different things to different people I believe.

Every generation has fought a different war and the songs and pictures change. The emotions and feelings however never do. As Dawg said they do fade, but once you have been through those types of things there are certain feelings and memories that will be vivid and whole for the rest of your life and certain things that will stop you in your tracks from time to time.

There is no other song that tears me up more than our national anthem sung properly and at the right venue (not sports events), but at memorials, tributes, and such.

This might sound insignificant, maybe even stupid, but when the Anthem is played at the track every Saturday, I pledge to race and conduct myself in a manner that would represent all of the soldiers who can't be there racing their toys because they are defending my ability to do so.

ETA: While we're on the topic, this, IMO, is the single most emotion provoking photo on the internet. I could stare at it for hours, but yet can't look at it for more than a few seconds without tearing up. To me, it shows the ultimate cost of freedom like no other...

Not a bit insignificant and definitely not stupid!
Too many people go beyond taking for granted the freedom we fight to maintain to the point of dis-honoring it. More people should respect what those who have given even the smallest part of their lives protecting means by conducting themselves in an honorable and respectful manner in every thing they do.
