    Default Blew up The Camaro....

...last night during the fist round launch. Came off the trans brake and at 5400 rpm, it made a very small noise and then died. At first I was like , then I was like . All I know for now, is that the crank isn't broke. More details to follow when I get it home (later today).....

That would be alright, but at 5400 rpm, I would say if it is the chain, the heads and all the valves are shot.

Bummer Shawn, it's the ones that just make a little noise that are the ones that reveal the greatest carnage! Hopefully not in your case.

UPDATE: Here's what I got so far.....

Balancer turns = crank not broke
Distributer doesn't = cam not being driven

    #3 intake
    #7 exhaust
    #4 intake
    #8 intake

These valves move when the engine is turned over. Not moving like they are supposed to, but minute movement from the piston hitting the valve (would be my guess).

#3 and #5 rockers slipped & jumped off as well.

Other than that, there is no movement up top.

So, that tells me it's either broken chain, broken cam gear bolts, or sheered key.

Up next is removing the water pump and timing cover to find out which one it is....
