    Why do cars in Ireland have USA License plates?

    they dont , they are both illegal, the tag is an irish registration on a texas plate, it is supposed to read ZV 8775, but i made it up to read ZV8 775. the ZV is to tell that its a classic or vintage vehicle. i am supposed to have the same tag on the front, but all the speed cameras and cops only read front tags,,,,, shhhhh dont tell anyone...

    So you can just put your #s on any plate?

    its a strange one , you are allowed a tag plate of the period, and because its an american motor i put on american style plates, most cops here allow it and unless you are messing them around you will be ok.

    Wow...thats pretty cool. Obviously your Govt is a little less restrictive on that type of thing than ours, lol!

    Hey, in Illinois you can legally register a plate from the year your car was made if you own a classic/antique.
