    Default Hello from Central Florida

Hello everyone at Cool Rides. I'm not sure what I should put in this message. I've included pictures of my '70 Mustang as it looks lately. I purchased the car when I was 16 back in '79. I had it looking and running quite well while in the Navy and until Hurricane Andrew in '92. Now that I have a little more "free time," I am hoping to clean out the garage and begin reworking my toy. I'm sure the car will never be a show piece, but it is mine and I will have performed most of the work in our garage. Take care and have fun with your car/s.

Welcome Dave! The picture of the insulation in the engine reminds me of a time we bought a car on auction and the engine caught fire a few days later. Turned out there was some fiberglass insulation in the engine compartment that caught fire. Luckily the engine wasn't totally ruined except for a few hoses.

Looking forward to see how your car comes back to life

It seemed like a good idea at the time...back in the '80's. I added the tail lights, created the spoiler, added extra side marker lights, the usual mustang hood scoop and front spoiler. Surprisingly you could feel the effect of the spoilers at highway speeds. It's not very visible, but in the rear tinting is the mustang. All the work was done by hand, didn't have any fancy scanners and laser cutters then.

Quoted for truth! Doing it yourself, your way to the best of your ability is true hot rodding - heck, that makes it worth it's weight in gold, no matter what anyone else thinks! Welcome to the site and enjoy. Keep us updated with your progress - I'm just getting going on a build too.
I may not do it all right, but I'll do it myself the best I can - THATS HOT RODDING!

Welcome to the site and ditto on the previous comments, it's rare for one to still have a car they bought at a young age. I too am rebuilding a car for the past year it has been metal work we finally are seeing some progress [mine won't be a show car either] just a tire frying toy.
