My 85 El Camino

This car has gone through many major projects since I bought it. I would like to give credit to the National El Camino Owners Association and El Camino Central, the Associations home and website. Many ideas and advise have come from the great members of the NECOA! The National El Camino Owners Association has nearly 22,000 members. Check it out at http://www.elcaminocentral.com/......This 85 El Camino is the current cover photo of the NECOA 2012 "All Generations Calendar"!

My El Camino is a 2 tone model. She's got new paint which is the factory cream white and none factory black(gray is factory). I put on a cowl induction hood and billet grill. Rally hood stripes give her a competition look. The 2 tone trim is all new and so are the bumpers and headlight frames. New glass has been installed too. A Craftec Tonneau Cover sit's over the bed. I'm running BF Goodrich Radial TA's and Corvette Rally wheels to complete the exterior's look.

The interior is redone to stock and is like new. The sound system is upgraded with a Sony head unit, Icon Legacy 2000 watt amp, Pioneer 6x9's, Rockford Punch 10" sub woofer, 5" Kicker door speakers and Infinity 3" dash speakers.

The front suspension has been completely rebuilt with Summit Racing parts like poly bushings throughout, tie rods, drag link and thicker sway bars front and rear and KYB gas shocks at all 4 corners.

The motor is a 1996-2000 350 Vortec 4 bolt main. It's a Brand new crate motor which I tore apart and installed a ZZ4 roller cam, roller rockers, chrome moly pushrods. The heads have been modified with screw in studs and 350lb valve springs and port matched to the Edelbrock Air-Gap manifold. She's got a 1406 Edelbrock carb and mid-length stainless steel headers. The exhaust is 2 1/2" with Magnaflow mufflers and chrome tips just behind the rear tires.

I own Mike's Transmissions in San Jose CA. The transmission is a H/D performance 2004R and the rear differential is a limited slip 3.73 which is completely rebuilt by me.

Thanks for looking at my El Camino!
